I learned that the very best time to pattern deer is in October after they break up their bachelor groups and establish their new fall ranges. At that time, the trail camera photos are the ideal way to determine which bucks are still around and which ones are killable.
The ones that are killable will show up often on the camera and, ideally, sometimes during daylight hours. This exposes their personality. Those with a tendency to move often and during the day, will prove to be the easiest to kill.
