I gave Realtree three of our hunts from last season and they put all three on their recently released Monster Bucks XVII two volume DVD set.
STICKERS
On Monster Bucks Volume I you will see Mike Sawyer shoot the buck we called Stickers. We built that same hunt into Episode 19 of our series. If you buy the Realtree video, take a look at the same hunt from our perspective. It is always interesting to me to see how two people can build a hunt two completely different ways with the same footage. It was a lot easier for us to build the hunt because I was there in the tree, so I knew exactly what happened at each point. It is not quite as easy when all you are looking at is the raw footage.
A MEMBER OF THE SUMMER BOYS CLUB
In Volume II, you will find my hunt from November 16 (Episode 22). This was one of the bucks we filmed several times during the summer of 2008. Realtree can't go into that kind of detail in their videos because they show tons of kills. In fact, they have 54 hunts on their two volume collection! So there is not time in their format to develop all that background stuff that we pride ourselves on getting during the offseason. Again, you can see how they produced our hunt differently from the way we produced it. They took the same footage and produced a different look, so that was pretty cool.
This hunt is also going to show up on Realtree's Monster Bucks TV show. I think it is on the Outdoor Channel. Not sure when, but you may see it there too.
THE LATE SEASON SURPRISE
Mike's other whopper from last season also made Realtree's Monster Bucks Volume II. This is the hunt we brought you in Episode 33 of Midwest Whitetail. By the way, Episode 33 was our most watched hunting episode from last season.
Mike killed the buck on January 3, 2009, a true late season surprise.
Like my buck from November 16, I believe Mike's buck from January 3 is also going to be on Realtree's Monster Bucks TV show.
If you get a chance, you might want to support our sponsor and purchase a set of Monster Bucks XVII DVDs.
